Rex Smeal Park provides a large, flexible outdoor setting for business events in the heart of Port Douglas, overlooking the Coral Sea and Port Douglas Inlet. With landscaped parkland, mature trees and waterfront views, the park can be transformed for corporate functions, gala dinners, cocktail events, welcome receptions, festivals and incentive experiences.

The park can accommodate large scale events, with capacity for more than 2,500 guests depending on the event configuration. For smaller gatherings, the Fig Tree provides a more defined setting, with capacity for up to 200 guests seated or 300 for stand up events.

As an open air, blank canvas setting, Rex Smeal Park allows planners to bring in marquees, furniture, lighting, catering, entertainment and other event infrastructure to create an event tailored to the group and occasion. The park’s central Port Douglas location also places delegates within easy reach of accommodation, restaurants and the town’s waterfront precinct.

Rex Smeal Park is a popular public event space, so venue hire and approvals are required for organised events. Larger events on public land may also require an event permit, with applications submitted in advance to allow for Council assessment.
