Cairns Waterfront Venues a Perfect Fit for Franchise Conference

The stunning waterfront location of Cairns and its outdoor venues wowed delegates at the 2025 Body Fit Training (BFT) Conference so much that they will return for their 2026 conference in April.

Business Events Cairns & Great Barrier Reef has published a case study on the franchise conference which will return to the Crystalbrook Collection and Cairns Convention Centre for the second year in a row.

Tourism Tropical North Queensland General Manager of Partnerships and Events Tara Bennett said Cairns offered the perfect mix of space and tropical charm for the growing event which this year attracted 400 delegates including BFT franchise partners and studio managers.

“The 2025 theme of ‘Empower’ fully utilised the city’s tropical outdoor lifestyle and the waterfront boardwalk connecting the conference accommodation at Crystalbrook Riley to the Cairns Convention Centre was perfect for the daily Run Club,” she said.

“Delegates appreciated the relaxed atmosphere of Cairns city and enjoyed spending as much time as possible on the waterfront, whether jogging on the boardwalk or participating in a BFT sweat session beside the expansive Crystalbrook Riley pool.

“The event tapped into Tropical North Queensland’s food story with delegates enjoying a low food miles menu at Paper Crane as part of Crystalbrook Riley’s commitment to sustainability, mouthwatering seafood at Hemingway’s Brewery on the water, and fresh local dishes at the Cairns Convention Centre where their commitment to using native ingredients and seasonal produce gave delegates an authentic taste of the destination.

“After three days of learning, delegates took the opportunity to explore the natural beauty of the region, with a group of international conference delegates enjoying a fishing and snorkelling trip to the Great Barrier Reef.”

Cairns Convention Centre General Manager Janet Hamilton said: “We’re delighted to welcome Body Fit Training back to the Cairns Convention Centre in 2026. Designed to reflect and embrace the surrounding rainforest and waterways of Trinity Inlet, our spacious light-filled spaces provide an inspiring setting for connection, learning and innovation – ideal for showcasing the latest in fitness technology and equipment.”

Event Manager Ash Hobbs from BFT Headquarters said the combination of professional development, networking opportunities and the breathtaking location made the conference a remarkable experience for franchise partners.

“Cairns provided the ideal backdrop for an unforgettable BFT experience,” he said.

Asia-Pacific Chief Executive Officer of BFT David Aitchison said: “Cairns was a perfect place for our BFT family to gather, blending the amazing location with the important work of strengthening connections, celebrating achievements, and building anticipation for our future growth.”
