BE Immersed Educational Program 2021-2022
As a result of the COVID-19 challenges facing the events industry, our BE Immersed: Cairns & Great Barrier Reef educational program has been adapted. The once annual event will be replaced with a series of smaller, bespoke educational programs, that will still operate under the BE Immersed: Cairns & Great Barrier Reef banner. Event planners visiting our region will ‘immerse’ themselves in the destination, experiencing relevant products alongside a smaller group of like-minded planners.
The bureau will continue to collaborate with the Cairns Convention Centre, Business Events Port Douglas and our major hotel partners to deliver individual site inspections and educational programs.
We extend an invitation to any event planners in Australia who have not visited Cairns & Great Barrier Reef recently and are considering our region, to contact Natalie Johnson to express your interest.
BE Immersed: Cairns & Great Barrier Reef 2021
After 20 successful years of the event, 2020 was the first year Sell TNQ wasn’t held. To relaunch the event, Sell TNQ was refreshed, rebranded and renamed! We introduced “BE Immersed: Cairns & Great Barrier Reef” – the new-look event for 2021 complemented our region’s new destination story.
BE Immersed: Cairns & Great Barrier Reef was held in Cairns and Port Douglas in May 2021. Registrations to attend this program were open to Australian-based event planners due to COVID-19 restrictions. Delegates were immersed in the region undertaking a four-day program; successfully showcasing the region’s business events products and capability, highlighting brand new hotels, offsite venues, and expanding infrastructure.
Day 1: The group toured the newly refurbished Cairns Convention Centre, nearby hotels and offsite venues and participated in one-on-one appointments with Cairns suppliers before dining under the stars overlooking the marina.
Day 2: Included an aquarium breakfast, hotel site inspections, soaring above the rainforest canopy aboard a cableway, sunset drinks in the middle of a cane field, and dinner in a disused World War II naval oil storage tank.
Day 3: The group then journeyed north, meeting Port Douglas suppliers and exploring business events venues, hanging out with the local wildlife and a Dreamtime experience in Mossman Gorge.
With the world’s oldest rainforest and the Great Barrier Reef as the backdrop, BE Immersed: Cairns & Great Barrier Reef ensured our meeting planners were able to experience naturally inspired moments. They can see how their future clients can surround their teams with great, leaving their business greater.
