In an effort to promote conscious conferencing, Business Events Cairns & Great Barrier Reef officially launched the Nurturing our Nature through Business Events campaign that will run throughout 2020.
A selection of high-end conference and accommodation partners from within Cairns City area have collaborated with the bureau to create an opportunity for conference organisers to give back to the destination through the conservation of our natural environment.
The corporate responsibility campaign named Nurturing our Nature through Business Events is a collaborative initiative led by the Business Events Cairns & Great Barrier Reef team that will see participating hotels donate $5 per delegate to one of four local wildlife and nature charities as a way of giving back to the region and aiding long-term rejuvenation and protection of our nature.
This incentive is eligible for events booked and held in 2020 at participating hotels including Hilton Cairns, Pullman Cairns International, Pullman Reef Hotel Casino, Riley, a Crystalbrook Collection Resort and Shangri-La Hotel, The Marina, Cairns.
Business Events Cairns & Great Barrier Reef hopes that giving corporate conferences a simple opportunity to consciously contribute to the conservation of our region will assist in raising awareness of the many other ways that Cairns & Great Barrier Reef is environmentally and socially responsible, particularly for business events.
The campaign will compliment each venue’s pre-existing sustainability practices, such as growing and harvesting fresh produce onsite at Hilton Cairns and the Shangri-La Hotel, replacing bottled water for delegates with recyclable containers at Pullman Cairns International and Pullman Reef Hotel Casino, or the complete ban of all single use plastic in Cairns Crystalbrook properties.
